Do you want more content on your site? Of course you do. Or at least you should. Content is one of the biggest traffic generators especially if you are not putting money into ads. Phantom Copy has a few ways that you can boost your content writing without using AI.
5 Alternatives to AI-Generated Content
We have done the work for you and put together a list of 5 alternatives to AI-generated content. It all comes down to who is going to do the work and what their relationship is to you. We did not rank the options below in any order because every business is going to be a bit different, though in our humble opinion, we saved the best for last.

Write it Yourself
Depending on how you value your time, this could be the most affordable option, and it shouldn’t be discounted if you are just starting out your business and strapped for cash. We’ll be honest, every other option here is going to have money tied to it. After all, time is money, and writing good content takes time. Depending on your background, you might be comfortable with writing your own content at least to start out with too. If you’re writing isn’t that great, then you may want to turn to one of the other options.
With that said, even if your writing is great, you still may want to turn to the other options because of SEO value. Writing SEO or search-engine-optimized content, adds a whole layer of complexity to the content that you are writing. Did you know that for many pieces of content, up to 50% of the time investment goes into just selecting the right keyword?
That’s a lot, and it’s a whole lot if you don’t even know where to begin in picking the ideal keyword. On top of that, there is a whole slew of other things that you want to be aware of including meta title/description, alt text, schema, HTML structure, and more. While it may be a good idea to dive into content yourself to start, it may not be the best long-term solution.
Hire a Writer
Hiring a full-time or even a part-time writer is another option. Bringing someone on board is always an investment, but having them on your team and in the trenches can produce great content. The issue here is that it can be difficult to know if you are hiring the right person, especially if you don’t have writing or SEO experience.
Additionally, you want to make sure that you have enough work to fill their time. Though it is true that you can never have enough good content on your site, are you going to have enough work to occupy a writer’s time? Do you have the resources to manage the writer and track their success? These are the reasons that many people shy away from this option. Though it may be the best option for some, it typically only works for businesses that have achieved a certain scale.
Buy Pre-written Content
There are a few places out there where you can buy pre-written content. You will want to make sure that any content you buy is unique and will always remain unique to you. Any good content marketplace (like the one we have at Phantom Copy) will be able to make those assurances. This is a great option if you just want a couple of pieces of content to get you started or if you really need a few pieces of supplemental content on a topic.
The only issue with this type of content is that most marketplaces will just provide the content and they do not handle the implementation of the content on your website. Also, though the content should be unique, it will not be written FOR you but instead will just be written in your industry. This means it will typically lack the hooks that go back into your business. It’s a great option and one of the best on this list, but it still has a few shortcomings.
Use a Freelance Service
There are a lot of freelance services like Fiverr out there. Some might even be tailored to your industry. These services will have dozens of writers available to tackle your job. They can write the content you want and this is often the cheapest option on this list, but this affordability comes with a price.
Almost all the shortcomings of all the other options come together on this one option. Just like if you were to hire a writer, you do not know for a fact that their work is good. They will often not be able or willing to upload and implement it on your site, they may not have experience in your industry or even in SEO, they don’t report on success, and you have little assurance that the content they “produce” will be unique and not just a carbon copy of something they created for someone else. Not only is this the cheapest option on the list outside of doing content yourself, but it’s also the one that we least recommend.
Hire a Ghostwriter
Just like how the last option had nearly all the downsides, this one has nearly all the upsides. It can be affordable, especially when used for long-term recurring content, you get a writer that is well-versed in SEO. They will report on their successes and know how to measure your success against others.
Through Phantom, for example, you can choose a content package that will fit your needs and you can work directly with your writer. The relationship may not be as good as an on-site writer, but it’s going to be close and it’s going to be more affordable. Our team can also handle the uploading and implementation in pretty much any backend.
Of course, you will want to ensure that you are going with a ghost-writing agency that doesn’t utilize AI for writing content, is experienced in SEO, vets its writers, and has established reporting tools. Phantom Copy does all of that and more.
